Porcelain Tile Pre-Shipment Quality Checklist for B2B & Export Orders
A practical pre-shipment checklist covering approved design, finish, quantity, packing, labels, visible condition, documentation and sample traceability.

Pre-shipment inspection should verify what was ordered, packed and documented
B2B tile shipments involve more than surface appearance. A useful pre-shipment review confirms product identity, quantity, finish, packing, traceability and visible condition before goods leave the loading point.
Project-specific laboratory tests, third-party inspection or contractual acceptance criteria should be handled separately according to the purchase agreement; they should not be replaced by a visual checklist.
Pre-shipment review
| Area | Verify | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Design number, finish, nominal size | Order + labels + sample |
| Quantity | Boxes/pieces/area per current packing | Packing list |
| Packaging | Cartons, palletization and labels | Visual inspection |
| Visible condition | Representative tile faces/edges | Sampling/photos |
| Traceability | Production/shade/calibre references where applicable | Labels/records |
| Documents | Commercial/project documents required by order | Document checklist |
Verify product identity against the approved reference
Compare design number, finish and size with the order and approved sample. Similar design names or graphics should not be used as substitutes without written approval.
For multi-face designs, confirm that intentional face variation is understood by the buyer.
Confirm quantity from current packing data
Count cartons and reconcile pieces/area using the current product packing reference. TAG Ceramic’s typical 600×600 core reference is 4 pieces / 1.44 m² per box, but the exact order should use the current packing sheet.
Container or truck planning also needs actual gross weights and pallet configuration.
Inspect packaging and representative material
Check pallet stability, carton condition, labels and a defined sample of product as required by the commercial agreement. Document abnormalities before loading.
A visual inspection does not replace specified laboratory testing or dimensional sampling where the contract requires them.
Match documents to the actual shipment
Commercial invoice, packing list, product references and any required certificates should describe the goods being loaded. Country-specific export documents and claims should be prepared by the responsible export/compliance team.
Do not publish or issue a certificate that has not been verified for the exact shipment.
Does a visual pre-shipment check replace technical testing?
No. It verifies visible/order/packing items; contractual laboratory tests or third-party inspection remain separate requirements.
Should packing data be taken from an old catalogue?
Use current packing information for the exact order because configurations can change.
What is important for product traceability?
Design, finish, relevant production/shade/calibre references, labels and the approved order/sample records.
Should export certificates be assumed from general factory claims?
No. Verify each required certificate or declaration for its current scope and the exact shipment/product.
